Joyful, Thriving Motherhood
About

Hi! I'm Vicky
I became a mom at 19 years old. At the time, I didn’t realize how much that one moment would shape the rest of my life. What I do know now—after nearly three decades of motherhood—is that the years go quickly, the work matters deeply, and the small everyday moments are the ones that build a beautiful life.
Some years after becoming a young mom, I married my husband Kevin, and we’ve now been building a life together for more than 20 years. Together we built a life centered around family, home, and being present for our kids.
When our children were young, I started my own in-home childcare business so I could work from home and still be there for them. Before that, I worked in a small childcare center, which means I’ve been caring for children for as long as I’ve been a mother myself.
Later, I homeschooled our two youngest children, which became one of the most meaningful seasons of motherhood for me.
These days I’m also a Meme (grandma), which might be my favorite title yet. Watching my children become parents and seeing life through the eyes of little ones again has been one of the sweetest gifts.
Those years shaped me in ways I’m still understanding today.
But my story isn’t just about raising children.
In my early 40s, I hit a wall. Physically and emotionally, I fell apart. At first, I assumed it was perimenopause, but as time went on, I realized something deeper was going on.
For most of my life I had been running in high gear—doing, producing, caring for everyone else, and pushing through whatever came my way. I believed that putting myself last was simply part of being a good mom.
But what I eventually discovered was that it wasn’t just the constant giving that had worn me down. It was also the stories running quietly in the background of my mind—beliefs I wasn’t even fully aware of—that kept my body in a constant state of stress.
Over time, that created a deeply dysregulated nervous system.
That season sent me on a deep journey of learning, healing, and understanding how our mindset, our thoughts, and the rhythms we create in our lives affect not only our homes—but our bodies.
Today, I’m still learning. After spending most of my life in overdrive and high productivity mode, I’m now learning how to slow down, breathe, and live from a calmer place. It’s not always easy, but it’s been one of the most important lessons of my life.
Now, as I am preparing to launch our youngest child into the world soon, I find myself entering a new season—one where I can reflect on the many years of motherhood behind me and share what I’ve learned along the way.
After nearly 28 years of motherhood, I’ve come to believe that thriving isn’t about perfection. It’s about the mindset we carry, the rhythms we create in our homes, and the encouragement we offer one another along the way.
Here you’ll find reflections from everyday life, practical encouragement for motherhood, and gentle reminders to slow down and be present in the life you’re building.
Whether you’re a young mom just starting out, in the busy middle years, or entering a new season like I am, you’re welcome here.
I’m so glad you’re here.
