Something that I value is being conscious of the ingredients that my family is exposed to. Whether that is in the food we eat, the products we use or the cleaners we clean with. I want to only use or consume the things that will not harm my family.
Now, I understand that there are things that we are exposed to that are out of our control, I’m not talking about those. I’m talking about the things that I CAN control, and I can control the things that come into my home. I truly believe that we vote with our dollars and that can make an impact!
And I also want to say that changing things over to products that were cleaner was a process. I didn’t do it all at once because money wouldn’t allow it, so don’t think you need to go get rid of everything that you “shouldn’t be using” and replace it immediately. Going slow but steady allows you time to absorb the information (because there’s a lot of it 🙃) and research what products are going to be a good fit for you and your family in the season of life you are in.
So, really what I want you to take from those first paragraphs is I’m not perfect, I’m still learning, and I don’t have it all figured out. But I’m willing to put the time in to keep learning and trying new things because it is important.
I don’t know about you, but when I pick up a bottle of glass cleaner or hand soap from my local grocery store, I don’t even know what some of the ingredients are without doing research let alone know how to pronounce them! Now, just because you can’t pronounce an ingredient doesn’t necessarily mean it is harmful, but chances are it is. And as you start looking at ingredients more, you will start to recognize common offenders and ones that are not harmful.
In the midst of learning, I found that some things I like to make myself instead of purchase already made by a company. Performance is important so there is a lot of trial and error with making things as there is with buying and trying new products. And something that someone else loves you may not. So, try it and then decide for yourself 🙂

And with that said, I wanted to share with you the two homemade cleaning products that I absolutely love. They are clean ingredients that do not compromise our health and they help save me some money. Win win!
The first one I tried and have never looked back from is a streak-free glass cleaner. This stuff is amazing! It cleans my windows and mirrors just like the name says, streak-free, and the ingredients are not some off the wall thing that you can only find in a small shop in Taiwan. Just common ingredients coming together to do the heavy work and I absolutely love this recipe!
The other one I fell in love with was a homemade hand soap. Again, common ingredients that you can find easily, that won’t cause a reaction to our bodies, and that works great! I wash my hands many, many times a day and even in the dead of winter, my hands are not chapped!
By clicking right here, you can get a download that you can print off and you can try these 2 recipes yourself! And I also linked all the ingredients and containers that I use to make it super easy for you to get started. If you use my link, I do get a commission from that just so you are aware and if you do order from my link, thank you!
I’m excited for you to try these and to get started on your journey to clean products if you haven’t started already. Please let me know what you think once you’ve had a chance to try them ☺️
